backdown00, is it quiet when disk is not being read? The most complain is due to the whirling noise when DVD drive is not read, but just idling. It's really bad when the game is going through a quiet passage. |

Well, I only have gears of war and as far as I know that game is always loading being read etc. What I did notice is as I play more I notice the sound less and less, maybe it gets quieter as I play? I did notice the system runs a lot cooler after an hour of game play than my hitachi did... weird =. |

If you are at the menu screen choosing difficulty level or kind of multiplayer game, it shouldn't be loading any data, so the drive should be quiet... |

What city and state did you get yours? It seems like most of them are north right now. I haven't heard about any in Texas. |

the drive is never dead silent. You can hear the drive but it is significantly quieter than other systems were, just heard a release system hehe, but don't expect it be to be whisper quiet or as quiet as it is when you first turn on the box with no cd in it. People who are reporting its so "quiet" are prob just comparing it to other systems. it is quieter but not dead quiet. To me, I still hear it. |

I got mine in Las Vegas and I went to a bunch of stores to find it. I found the video games stores were more likely to have the new lots. I had a Toshiba-Samsung drive and the BenQ is significantly quieter than that one to me. |

backdown00, I think something might be wrong with the one you have if it's as loud as you keep saying it is. Because I really can't hear it spin even if I sit next to it. |

really? so you don't hear the drive at all when you have a 360 game in it? if thats the case, looks like i have to go try another one... |

Hey Tenth, when I say spin, I mean when you put a 360 game in it, the drive gets louder than when you have no 360 game in it. At least that what my benq does. I think I understand where people are seeing tis less noisy. when it has a 360 game in it, its not as loud as other drives and its make sno loaidng noise now... tell me if thats on par with what you hear etc |

I guess when you first load a 360 game you can hear it spinning. But it is quieter than my previous 360. |
